The Red Cabin concept was conceived by a group of design and hospitality professionals to encapsulate wellness, sustainability and ‘casual excellence’ within the outdoor hospitality sector.

The team is now looking for a select number of landowners who would like to operate a Red Cabin on their land. The structure is one of the only UK-built, low carbon cabins on the market, is planning exempt (with a site exemption certificate), designed to be entirely off-grid and contains an integrated sauna with external cold water plunge pool/hot tub.

  • Our standard partnership provides an average revenue of circa. £40,000 per year. We handle all marketing and bookings centrally, while you handle the changeovers. You don't have to interact with guests unless there is a problem during their stay. We provide the cabin with sauna, off-grid technology, decking, tub, all the furniture, inventory and furnishings. We ask for an initial investment of 30% of the set-up fee and you earn 60% of all revenue. The payback period is approximately 8 months and the ROI, 78%. We also handhold you through the planning exemption process and take care of all the cabin’s structural maintenance.

  • We work with exemption license granting organisations which allow you to host up to five compliant structures on your land, including AONB. We have designed our cabins to be compliant right out of the box meaning they can be run entirely off-grid or with minimal temporary connections to services (water and electricity) should you wish. They require no mains services, no permanent ‘development’ and leave no trace once removed. Despite being ‘off-grid’, guest experience is never compromised. We’ve worked hard to encapsulate ‘barefoot luxury’ – no smelly compost toilets here!

  • We believe so but we are still doing the calculations! We are working with the BRE (Building Research Establishment) to fully audit every material within our construction. We use Sterling Board, an orientated stranded board (OSB) made in the UK with zero-added formaldehyde. Biogenically (the result if you include the carbon captured in the timber we use) we are carbon negative but we want to calculate the full impact of everything. Our insulation is made in the UK from recycled plastic bottles (no nasty PUR), and we have 200mm in every section (floors, walls and roof) giving exceptional thermal performance, almost at Passivhaus standards. We have minimised thermal bridges and maximised air tightness. We have specified argon filled, double glazed aluminium windows (also made in the UK) with a low-E coating to retain heat in the winter and reflect it back in the summer. Interiors include recycled products (cork floor, reconstituted worktop, upholstery) and British made products. We are excited to get our results back!

  • That's great! Drop us a line at host@theredcabin.co.uk and we'll be in touch. We'll have a chat about your location and see if we could be a good match. Sadly we can’t accept every landowner as we have some fairly strict requirements but even if we don't end up working together, we might be able to suggest some other routes that could work for you – we have lots of contacts.
